My cousin is getting married (Catholic church wedding, 2pm, Atlanta) next Sat. I am a reader so people will see me. What do you think of the following options? Shoes are the same for both.

I prefer the maroon dress for this. The color is a great wedding color, a great seasonal color and goes very well with the gray shrug. It will also make the gray shoes and shrug *pop* more (it’s a nice combination) than the blue patterns. I don’t like having things over larger patterns like the blue dress as well – I think it stands better on it’s own. (And I’d prefer it with a white or silver sweater, I think.) It also seems a bit more summery. I was in Atlanta last week, and it wasn’t all that wrong.
I hope you’ll share pictures of the outfit you picked! What are you wearing for a necklace? I’d love to see this paired with a really high-interest garnet choker, like this one:

You might need a shorter shrug to top the dress as this obscures the waist making it less shapely

Yup, yesterday. I went with the blue slip dress and got compliments. I also didn’t fall on my face going to or from the lectern, and I stuck to the assigned reading and didn’t editorialize. I didn’t wear any jewelry because I’ve recently learned that I’m allergic to gold, which explains why wearing all my nice jewelry was so un-fun. I suppose I should get new nice jewelry.
The gray shrug is a bit shorter in person than it looks on the parka so I don’t think my waist was totally obscured but definitely something better could have been found had I realized how soon the wedding was going to be! The maroon dress will be worn next Saturday to an evening reception. I think I actually have a shawl that will go with it and be a better topper.
I got a gel manicure, which I like at this point. I didn’t appreciate the nail lady’s hard sell of an eyebrow wax, which I declined because I know from experience will irritate my skin so badly that eczema patches will form. This is less attractive than skinny eyebrows. I’m probably irrationally annoyed by her comment, but it’s a recurring thing.

I think your eyebrows are just fine! You could get around the gold problem with a stone necklace – like the one I linked to.

Also, the blue tied in nicely with the wedding’s color theme – not super matchy matchy, but cohesive. It should look nice in the pictures, which I will share with you when I see them. 🙂
I am looking forward to the maroon dress next week. I love things with full skirts.
